The wait for a Husqvarna 401 is finally over! The Swedish brand has finally launched the Svartpilen 401 along with the 2024 Vitpilen 250 as well, in India; And we’re EXTREMELY excited!
The Svartpilen 401 costs Rs 2,92,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), meaning it’s Rs 18,520 more affordable than the KTM 390 Duke. The only other rival to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 in the 400cc scrambler segment is the Triumph Scrambler 400X. But for a similar price range, you can also consider the KTM 390 Duke (of course), along with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
As for the Vitpilen 250, it’s priced at Rs 2,19,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and hence costs Rs 20,000 less than the KTM 250 Duke. Its rivals include the Bajaj Dominar 250 and Suzuki Gixxer 250.
We’ve never seen the Svartpilen 401 in India and hence it’s a completely new package. Here’s a quick lowdown on what it packs:
399cc liquid-cooled engine making 46PS at 9000rpm and 39Nm at 7000rpm
Adjustable 43mm WP open cartridge fork & WP Apex monoshock with preload adjustability
320mm front disc (sintered pads) and 240mm rear disc, with Bosch dual channel ABS
5-inch TFT display with optional Bluetooth connectivity
17-inch spoke wheels at both ends, shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres
177mm ground clearance | 820mm seat height | 13.5-litre fuel tank

As for the Vitpilen 250, we had it in India but this one features the updated 250cc engine that we so liked in the updated 250 Duke. Here’s all that it packs:
249cc liquid-cooled engine making 31PS at 9500rpm and 25Nm at 7500rpm
New steel-trellis frame and subframe
43mm WP Apex USD fork & WP Apex monoshock with preload adjustability
320mm front disc (sintered pads) & 240mm rear one with Bosch dual channel ABS
110/70-R17 (F) and 150/60-R17 (R) MRF tyres
163.8kg kerb weight (0.6kg less than before), 177mm ground clearance (25mm more than before) and 820mm seat height (22mm less than before!)
13.5-litre fuel tank means it’s 4 litres more than before too
KTM’s new 399cc and 249cc platforms both impressed us a lot and we’re excited to see how well both translate onto such stunning neo-retro bikes. Stay tuned to ZigWheels to be among the first ones to catch our first ride review of both the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 250.
