It looks lean, mean and ready to take on the green Ninja 400

Exactly three years after we first reported about it, the Aprilia RS457 has finally been unveiled and it looks ravishing! Here’s all you need to know about it:

  • Sharp and aggressive styling | Reminiscent of the bigger Aprilia RS’es

  • 457cc liquid-cooled twin cylinder engine | 47.6PS

  • 41mm USD fork & monoshock, both with preload adjustability

  • 320mm (F) and 220mm (R) discs | Dual-channel ABS with a supermoto mode

  • 110/70 (F) and 150/60 (R) TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres | 17-inch wheels

  • 5-inch TFT | Bluetooth connectivity as optional accessory

  • 175kg kerb weight is just 3kg more than the KTM RC 390

  • Ride-by-wire = 3 riding modes

  • 3 levels of traction control with the option of turning it off

  • Bluetooth connectivity and quickshifter available as optional accessory

The RS457 will be officially launched in India sometime later this month, maybe around Bharat GP and it has gotten our hopes really high! The sub-500cc multi-cylinder segment in India has always been a rather quiet one with the Kawasaki Ninja 400 being one of the few really impressive motorcycles. But even then, its exorbitant Rs 5.19 lakh (ex-showroom) price meant that it’s not been a bike that many Indians have been able to experience. But the RS457 will soon stir up this segment a bit. And now with the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R coming, this segment will definitely be one to watch out for enthusiasts!

We expect the Aprilia to be priced around the Rs 4.25 lakh mark (ex-showroom). Yes, that's pricey too, but we expect the bike to match the price with an incredible riding experience, as Aprilias usually do. Plus the next most affordable Aprilia, the Tuono 660 cost an eye-watering Rs 13.09 lakh when it was launched in 2021. So the Rs 4.50 lakh doesn’t seem all that much now, does it? Apart from the Ninja 400, another rival for the RS457 will be the KTM RC 390.
