Last October, Kawasaki India launched its neo-retro naked, Z650RS. And now, the bikemaker has introduced the Z650RS 50th-anniversary edition in the country, celebrating the golden jubilee of Kawasaki’s iconic Z-lineup. Let’s take a closer look.
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
The special edition Z650RS retails at Rs 6,79,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), Rs 7,000 more than the standard colours. Only 20 examples of this special edition have been set aside for our market, and bookings have commenced over Kawasaki India’s website, as we speak. Deliveries will begin from March 2022 onwards.
It continues to rival the relatively more affordable Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, the more premium Triumph Trident 660, and the sky-high-priced Honda CB650R.
What’s New?
New for this special 50th-anniversary edition is the Candy Diamond Brown livery. It takes inspiration from the ‘Fireball’ colourway of the 1972 Z1, wrapping the Z650RS in a sparkly red shade.
Along with this, the livery includes golden alloy wheels, special ‘Z50th’ badging on the tank, a chrome grab rail for the pillion, and a different seat with a textured leather cover. All of this accentuates the already good-looking Z650RS.
What’s Unchanged?
Everything apart from the livery remains as is. The Z650-derived 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor (making 68PS and 64Nm), steel trellis frame, and 17-inch spoke-like alloys remain unchanged.
Even the semi-digital instrument cluster, LED lighting, and ABS have been carried forward. For more details, check out this detailed story on the Z650RS.
ZigSays
The Kawasaki Z650RS is a beauty, and this special edition really looks the part. Yes, the livery does come at a price, but we feel the Rs 7,000 premium is entirely justified.
Now that the Z650RS’ special edition is here, we expect Kawasaki India to introduce the same for the Z650 and the Z900 soon, considering they have already been introduced globally.
