Following the footsteps of the Seltos and Sonet, Kia India has updated the Carens with a host of model year updates. This includes the addition of more features in existing variants, introduction of new mid-spec trims, a powertrain option as well as one new colour in the lineup. Here’s everything you need to know about the updated Carens MPV:
The biggest update for the Carens is the addition of a host of new variants: Premium (O), Prestige (O), Prestige + (O) and the X-Line 7-seater (earlier offered only with 6-seater). Here’s all the standout bits in these new variants:
The new Prestige Plus (O) variant now makes the sunroof more accessible, which was earlier offered from the now discontinued higher-end Luxury (O) trim.
The Prestige (O) variant, based on the Prestige, gets the following additions: availability of both 6-seater and 7-seater, leatherette wrapped gearknob, keyless entry with push-button start, LED DRLs and tail lamps.

The Premium (O) variant, based on the one-above-base Premium, packsan 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, keyless entry with push-button start, and a shark fin antenna.
Lastly, the top-end X-Line variant, earlier offered only as a 6-seater, is now available with a 7-seater option as well.
Note: We would love to give you the exact pricing and specifications of these variants, but considering just how lengthy and complex the Carens’ variant-wise pricing list is, we’d advise you to head to our model page for a closer look at the exact variant that suits your budget.

The Kia Carens will get the Pewter Olive hue from the facelifted Seltos and Sonet SUVs. The Carens is also now available with one new powertrain option: the 116PS 1.5-litre diesel engine can be had with the 6-speed manual. This will be sold alongside the existing 6-speed iMT and 6-speed torque converter automatic options. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre petrol and turbo-petrol engines carry on unchanged.
It’s clear that all of these updates are being made after taking customer feedback and they surely add to the appeal of the MPV.
The Kia Carens competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo, while being a more affordable alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta and Toyota Innova Hycross. Following these various revisions, the prices for the Kia Carens now range from Rs 10.52 lakh to Rs 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom).
