MG Motor India has launched Astor Blackstorm Edition on our shores from Rs 14.48 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s based on the mid-spec Smart trim and gets just the 1.5-litre petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmissions. The MG Astor Blackstorm follows the same cosmetic enhancements that the Gloser Blackstorm got.
Take a look at the variant-wise prices here:

As seen in the table above, the Astor Blackstorm commands a Rs 27,000 premium over the standard Smart trim.
As its name suggests, the Astor Blackstorm gets the Starry Night hue with certain cosmetic enhancements. That includes blacked out alloys, grille, roof rails, door garnish, bumpers and smoked headlamps. However, to add a tinge of contrast and sportiness, the brake callipers have been painted in red, which stands out from the black theme. Lastly, a Blackstorm emblem on the fender denotes which variant you’re driving.
The Astor’s Smart trim got an all-black dashboard before, and the same has been carried forward. But MG has added a splash of red in the AC vents and stitching on the steering wheel, dashboard inserts and upholstery. The seats also come draped in Tuxedo black upholstery with red stitching.
It also gets a JBL sound system to satisfy the audiophile. Rest of the features are similar to the MG Astor Smart, which we have detailed in our in-depth variants explained story.

The MG Astor Blackstorm edition gets just one engine option: a 110PS 1.5-litre petrol engine, teamed with either a 5-speed MT or a CVT. The 140PS 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine isn’t offered with this particular edition.
Overall, the updates made in this particular edition give the Astor a much sportier look. It locks horns with other special edition models such as Hyundai Creta Adventure Edition, Kia Seltos X-Line and the Matte editions of VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
