Tata Motors has launched the Altroz Racer, the sportier version of the premium hatchback, at Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s basically Tata’s answer to the Hyundai i20 N Line and gets visually appealing looks, more features and most importantly, more power. It must be noted that the Racer replaces the i-Turbo variant and will be the only turbo-petrol Altroz you can buy from now onwards.
You can opt for the Tata Altroz Racer in three broad variants: R1, R2 and R3. Variant-wise pricing of this model can be found in the table below:
Variants |
Ex-showroom Price |
R1 |
Rs 9.49 lakh |
R2 |
Rs 10.49 lakh |
R3 |
Rs 10.99 lakh |
The Altroz Racer’s design is largely similar to that of the standard car. But what makes it more visually appealing is the new dual-tone finish, where the roof and hood are finished in black. Adding to the look are the white stripes, which have a checkered flag on the roof. The Tata logos, alloys and ‘ALTROZ’ badging are in a dark finish and lastly, you get ‘Racer’ badging on the front fenders.
You can opt the Tata Altroz Racer in three different hues: Avenue White, Pure Grey and Atomic Orange.
Inside, the sportier version of the Altroz gets an all-black dashboard with orange highlights and ambient lighting that set the tone. The seats are also finished in black and get the white and orange stripes. And keen-eyed viewers will also notice that the Altroz Racer’s gear knob has been lifted from the Tata Nexon.

But the bigger talking point here is the numerous feature additions, which will be available in the regular Altroz as well. These include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and six airbags (as standard).

Other features such as an automatic climate control, 8-speaker Harman / Kardon sound system, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charger, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and ABS with EBD have all been carried over.
The Tata Altroz Racer gets the Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine developing 120 PS and 170 Nm. That’s an increase of 10 PS and 30 Nm over the outgoing i-Turbo variant. Plus, the Racer gets a 6-speed manual transmission instead of the 5-speed ‘box of the Altroz i-Turbo. There is no automatic transmission offered with the Racer, but we wouldn’t discount its availability down the road.
As mentioned above, the Tata Altroz Racer locks horns with the Hyundai i20 N Line. It can also be considered a sportier alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
