After waiting for years for the Tork T6X, the Pune-based company has finally launched its first electric motorcycle, called the Tork Kratos. Here’s all the juicy details on the new electric motorcycle.

What's Its Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

Tork Motors has launched the Kratos at Rs 1,32,499 for the standard variant and Rs 1,47,499 (both ex-showroom Pune) for the ‘R’ variants including Rs 60,000 FAME-II subsidy. These prices are excluding the state-wise subsidies. This makes the Kratos Rs 26,499 more expensive than the Revolt RV400. The Kratos is already on sale and can be booked by paying a token of Rs 999. Deliveries are slated to commence April 4 onwards.

City Kratos Kratos R
Pune Rs 1.07,999 Rs 1,22,999
Bengaluru Rs 1,32,499 Rs 1,47,499
Delhi Rs 1,02,499 Rs 1,17,499
Hyderabad Rs 1,32,499 Rs 1,47,499
Chennai Rs 1,32,499 Rs 1,47,499
Ahmedabad Rs 1,12,499 Rs 1,27,499

Tork Motors will launch the Kratos in phased manner, starting with cities like Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengauluru and Chennai in the first phase. In its second phase, the company plans on expanding to 100 cities. The company will have dealerships in six cities, and will eventually move to a franchise-based model.

How Many Variants Are There?

The Tork Kratos is available in standard and ‘R’ variants. Both the bikes have different power outputs, features and colour options.

What's New?

Tork Motors insist that this is not the T6X that we all have been waiting for and the Kratos is an all-new model, evolved from the learnings of the T6X. For starters, the design has been heavily revised from earlier. That said, it still can be identified as a Tork product. The bike features LED illumination all around.

Tork Motors uses its in-house axial flux motor for the Kratos which is claimed to have 96 percent efficiency. This motor delivers 7.5kW of peak power and 28Nm. It is paired with a 4kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed real-world range of 120km. The company has used a forced air-cooling system for the Kratos’s motor. The claimed charging time for both the models is 4 to 5 hours.

The Tork Kratos R uses a different motor that pushes out 9kW of peak power, and the peak torque is rated at 38Nm. The ‘R’ has a top speed of 105kmph (5kmph more than the standard), and can sprint from 0-40kmph in 3.5 seconds. Even the battery pack is different for both the bikes, and the ‘R’ variant comes with fast charging capability that can charge the battery to 80 percent in under an hour. Tork has also provided free access to its charging network for two years for customers of the ‘R’ model.

The Tork Kratos features a split trellis frame which is suspended onto a telescopic fork and a monoshock. This electric motorcycle features disc brakes at both ends, backed by the safety net of CBS. However, we would have liked the bike to have ABS instead.

On the features front, the Tork Kratos is loaded to the gills. From multiple riding modes, including a reverse assist, to regenerative braking, USB charging, storage box, digital instrument console with connectivity features, the list is long.

To top that off, Tork has built a mobile application with a comprehensive list of features, including ride analytics, charging info, navigation, and a ‘T Net’ charging station locator.

Yes, Tork is building its own charging network. This public charging network will be set up in prime locations across cities as well as popular riding locations.

ZigSays

Tork Motors definitely took its own sweet time with its electric motorcycle, but the Kratos looks to be a promising proposition. Not only has the bikemaker launched a feature-rich product, but has the performance to match. Furthermore, the added convenience of doorstep servicing and a public charging network further sweetens the deal. Summing up, the Tork Kratos slots right between the affordable Revolt RV400 and the sportier, more powerful upcoming Ultraviolette F77.
