Bajaj’s first launch for 2024 comes in the form of the updated Chetak electric scooter, as the brand has updated both the Chetak Urbane and Premium variants. Here’s all you need to know about them.
The 2024 Chetak Urbane variant costs Rs 1,15,001, while the Premium trim costs Rs 1,35,463. Its rivals include the likes of the Ola S1, Ather 450S and TVS iQube Electric. With the TECPAC packages, they’ll cost Rs 1,23,001 and Rs 1,44,463 respectively (all prices effective ex-showroom).
The biggest change for the Premium trim is the new 5-inch TFT display that seems to have an overall large and clear layout. Its new 3.2kWh battery pack now ensures an ARAI-certified range of 127km and the new Chetak now has a 73kmph top speed (10kmph more than before). And with the bigger battery pack, Bajaj is also offering an 800W charger on the Premium variant, which claims to give you 15.6km of range within 30 minutes of charging. Finally, the Premium variant also gets sequential rear indicators, electronic handle and steering locks, a switch to open the seat, and a helmet box lamp.

Interestingly, just like the Urbane variant, the Premium variant now also gets the TECPAC package. So only those opting for it will get the whole suite of features like turn-by-turn navigation, music control, call alerts and display themes.
As for the Urbane variant, its price hasn’t changed but the electric scooter is now on sale in four colours: Cyber White, Brooklyn Black, Indigo Metallic Blue, and Coarse Grey.
Three of our biggest gripes with the Chetak were its lack of performance, range and features. And now Bajaj has somewhat solved all of them through this update. We will be riding the updated scooter soon, so stay tuned to ZigWheels to be the first ones to catch our first ride review.
