As seen in recent years, SUVs remain the most in-demand segment among buyers in our country. Staying true to this trend, 2024 brought a wave of new launches, including the introduction of an SUV-coupe sub-segment with models like the Tata Curvv and the Citroen Basalt. Notably, most of these models were priced under Rs 30 lakh, offering buyers an even wider array of choices.
With that said, here are all the SUVs launched in India in 2024 under Rs 30 lakh.
Price: Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.76 lakh (ex-showroom)
Kia gave its sub-compact SUV, the Sonet, a facelift, updating its design and introducing new features. The 2024 Sonet comes equipped with new additions like a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a 360-degree camera system, and ADAS. While its refreshed exterior gives it a more muscular look, further enhancing its appeal. It continues to be offered with two petrol engines and a single diesel engine option.
Price: Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom)
One of the bestsellers in our market, the Hyundai Creta, also received a facelift this year. The 2024 Creta features a completely new design with a more upright stance and boxy look. It also boasts an upgraded interior with a more premium cabin and new features, including dual-zone automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera system, as well as ADAS.

This year, Tata Motors expanded its EV portfolio with the launch of the Punch EV. It features styling tweaks over its ICE-powered counterpart and offers a more upscale cabin with premium features. Highlights include ventilated front-row seats, a wireless phone charger, a 10.25-inch infotainment system as well as a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. The Punch EV is available with two battery pack options, a 25 kWh and a 35 kWh, providing a claimed range of up to 421 km.
Hyundai also launched a sportier version of its compact SUV, the Creta N Line, in 2024. Prices start at Rs 16.82 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Creta N Line brings various performance upgrades over the standard model. It is offered only with the 160 PS and 253 Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, offered with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The Creta N Line also features distinct styling updates and interior tweaks to differentiate it from the regular Creta.
In early April, Toyota launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor, which is essentially a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It shares similar crossover styling with the Fronx, albeit with minor tweaks. The Urban Cruiser Taisor is offered with a 90 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 100 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. Like the Fronx, it can also be configured with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Mahindra's first launch of 2024 was the Bolero Neo Plus SUV which is an extended version of the Bolero Neo. It offers a 9-seat configuration and originally debuted as an ambulance. The Bolero Neo Plus is powered by a 120 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Top features include a 9-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, AUX, and USB connectivity, a 6-speaker sound system, and power windows for all four doors.
With the launch of the 2024 XUV3XO, Mahindra not only gave a new name to its sub-4m SUV but also a completely refreshed design, a modern cabin, and new features. It now includes a panoramic sunroof and Level-2 ADAS in its top-spec variants. The powertrain department remains unchanged, with a choice of two turbo-petrol engines and a single diesel engine.
Force Motors updated their hardcore off-roader, the Force Gurkha and launched it in 3-door and a new 5-door variant. It features an updated 2.6-litre diesel engine that now produces 140 PS and 320 Nm. Top features include a 9-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, manual AC, and all-powered windows.
Tata Motors entered the compact SUV space with the launch of the Curvv EV in 2024. It stands out with its sloping roofline and minimalist design. The Curvv EV is available with either a 45 kWh battery pack, which provides a 502 km of claimed range, or a 55 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 585 km. It comes equipped with features such as a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
The Citroen Basalt made its debut as the first ICE-powered mass-market SUV coupe in India. Visually, it shares similarities with the brand's other SUVs and features a familiar-looking cabin. The Basalt is offered with an 82 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 110 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol unit. A 10.2-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver's display, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and adjustable under-thigh support are some of its feature highlights.
Just a day before our Independence Day, Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx in India. In addition to an extra set of doors, the Thar Roxx features design updates and a completely revamped cabin compared to the 3-door Thar. It also comes equipped with premium features such as ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS. Engine options include a 2-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel.
The Tata Curvv joined its electric counterpart a month after its launch. It retains a similar SUV-coupe design language but features certain aesthetic updates to make it look apart. The Curvv is available with three engine options: a 120 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, a 125 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and a 118 PS 1.5-litre diesel. Like the Curvv EV, it comes equipped with amenities such as a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a powered tailgate with gesture control, and a panoramic sunroof.
Hyundai also updated its Creta-based three-row SUV, the Alcazar, with exterior and interior enhancements. The 2024 Alcazar features a design inspired by the facelifted Creta and introduces new features such as electric boss mode, wireless phone charging for both first and second-row passengers, and ADAS. It retains the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options and is available in both six and seven-seat configurations.
Price: Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom)
After much anticipation, Tata Motors launched the Nexon CNG in India. It not only comes with the brand's dual-cylinder technology but is also the first car in the country to feature a factory-fitted CNG kit paired with a turbocharged petrol engine. In CNG mode, the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 100 PS and 170 Nm. The Nexon CNG is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission.
We got a new sub-compact SUV in the form of the Skoda Kylaq, which was initially launched in November, but full prices were announced earlier this month. It is offered in four broad variants with a single 115 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engine option. The Kylaq comes equipped with features such as powered and ventilated front-row seats, a single-pane sunroof, and wireless phone charging.
BE 6 Starting Price: Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom)
Recently, Mahindra expanded its EV portfolio with two new SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6. The BE 6 also marks the debut of the brand's 'Born Electric' sub-brand. Both models feature a sporty yet modern design while carrying most of the design elements from their respective concept versions.
The XEV 9e and BE 6 are offered with two battery packs: a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh, delivering a claimed range of up to 682 km. Both of them are equipped with features such as wireless phone charging, powered front seats with ventilation, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and ADAS. Mahindra is yet to announce the full prices of both EVs, which are expected to be revealed at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo.
