The new year is going to be exciting for Skoda and Volkswagen as they are preparing to introduce a slew of new cars in India, including the updated Skoda Octavia RS, new Volkswagen Tiguan, and new-gen Skoda Kodiaq as well as a couple of electric vehicles (EVs). And here is the list of all the probable upcoming models from Volkswagen and Skoda.
Expected to debut on 17 January, 2025
Estimated price: Rs 45 lakh
Unveiled earlier this year globally, the new Skoda Octavia is arguably one of the most awaited offerings in 2025. The refreshed sedan features a sportier design, upmarket cabin reminiscent of the new-gen Kodiaq and Superb, additional features, and updated powertrains with mild hybrid functionality. Out of the range of engines, Skoda is likely to bring the Octavia RS to the Indian market that is powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 265 PS and 370 Nm. Most notably, Skoda is said to be evaluating local assembly of the Octavia.
Expected to launch in March 2025
Estimated price: Rs 40-44 lakh
The Kodiaq is one of the most premium offerings from Skoda in India and is also a favourite amongst Skoda fans and loyalists. The second-gen Kodiaq will probably keep those loyalists happy as it has grown in certain dimensions and boasts a fresh look inside and out. While the international-spec Kodiaq comes with a range of powertrain options, including new mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions, the India-spec model is expected to continue with the 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 190 PS and 320 Nm.
Expected to launch in August 2025
Estimated price: Rs 40 lakh
Revealed in late 2023, the all-new Skoda Superb features a new exterior design and a fresh interior, as well as Level 2 autonomy (ADAS). More to the point, we expect the brand to introduce the new Superb in the country sometime in August 2025. Similar to the new Kodiaq, it comes powered by a variety of engine options but the model arriving in India could continue with the 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generating 190 PS and 320Nm.
Expected to launch sometime in late 2025
Estimated price: Rs 45 lakh
The all-electric Enyaq has been around for a few years and its India entry was expected this year, but that has not happened yet. However, it is likely that Skoda will introduce the latest Enyaq, which received a mid-cycle update last year, in 2025. Internationally, it comes in different trim levels and each version of the electric SUV offers distinct range, power output, and drivetrain options. For instance, the WLTP range of the Enyaq’s powertrains range from 379 km to 566 km. It is interesting to note that Skoda recently revealed sketches of the new-gen Enyaq, which is set to debut next year. However, it is not clear yet whether the automaker will bring the all-new model or offer the Enyaq facelift.
Expected to launch sometime in late 2025
Estimated price: Rs 35 lakh
The Czech Republic-based automaker is expected to bring another electric SUV, the Elroq, to India in 2025. The Elroq sits below the Enyaq and features a new design language as well as a cabin layout similar to that of the new Kodiaq and Superb. It is available in 3 battery packs in some international markets, such as 55 kWh, 63 kWh, and 82 kWh. The claimed range varies between 370 km and 560 km and it remains to be seen which version will make its way to India.
Expected to launch in September 2025
Estimated price: Rs 37-39 lakh
In September 2023, the new-gen Tiguan made its global debut and the new model is likely to be launched here sometime in September 2025. Based on the newer version of the MQB platform, it features a new design that resembles the all-electric model range from Volkswagen. Not to mention the revamped interior with a huge 15-inch information display. In terms of powertrain, the SUV comes with an improved range in PHEV versions, while the other engine options remain more or less the same. For India, Volkswagen is expected to offer the same 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 190 PS and 320 Nm.
Expected to launch sometime in 2025
Last but not least, the on-sale Virtus and Taigun are expected to receive a model year update next year, keeping them fresh and competitive. The probable model year update may bring a subtle design change inside and out, fresh colours, and a handful of additional features. That said, the Virtus and Taigun will continue to use the 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 115 PS and 178 Nm and 1.5–litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that makes 150 PS and 250Nm.
All in all, both Skoda and Volkswagen are likely to bring a range of new cars to India in 2025. While we have listed all the possible upcoming launches, there could also be some surprise unveils from Volkswagen and Skoda, especially in the form of electric vehicles (EVs).
