The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 concluded on 22 January 2025, featuring plenty of new car showcases from various automakers across the world. Indian auto major Tata Motors was also part of the Auto Expo 2025 and showcased its newest offerings, including the much-anticipated upcoming cars. Here are the highlights of the Tata Motors pavilion, which flaunted its SUV dominance.
The highlight of the Tata pavilion was none other than the Sierra ICE in its near-production form. The brand has revived the popular nameplate with all-electric power, making its lineup future-proof. Interestingly, the Sierra ICE has made its debut for the first time to the public, unlike the few showcases of the Sierra EV concept.
It is expected that the upcoming Sierra ICE will come powered by a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 170 PS and 250 Nm. Also on offer could be the 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor from the Harrier and Safari that makes 170 PS and 350 Nm. Transmission options may include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque-convertor automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The second major showcase from Tata Motors was the Harrier EV, which was also showcased in the Stealth Edition for the first time (more on this in the later half). The electric equivalent of the on-sale Harrier features a design similar to its counterpart but there are few differences given it is an electric vehicle.
The Harrier EV will likely be powered by two battery pack options paired with a single and dual-motor setup. The latter will make it an all-wheel drive. Notably, the maximum range of the electric SUV is expected to be over 500 km. Tata is likely to launch the EV by the end of the year.
Tata showcased the Bandipur Edition of the Nexon EV, Harrier, and Safari at the Auto Expo 2025. This new special edition is a tribute to the Indian wildlife and national parks, particularly the Bandipur National Park in Karnataka. This national park has India’s second-largest population of tigers and is also famous for its elephants.
The special edition Nexon EV, Harrier, and Safari get a new paint job, called Bandipur Bronze. All three models also boast an elephant logo on either side of the fenders in satin dark gunmetal. On the inside, the cabin features a khaki theme for the dashboard, while the seats get a special Khaki Art Leather with Nappa grain upholstery. There is also granite black decorative stitching and an elephant mascot on the headrests.
Unlike the new Tata Bandipur Edition of the Nexon EV, Harrier, and https://www.zigwheels.com/tata-cars/safari, the Safari and upcoming Harrier EV get a new Stealth Edition. Both SUVs adorn a rugged look with a fresh Stealth Matte Black paint scheme paired with black alloy wheels. The fenders, on the other hand, bear a Stealth mascot. The interior of this special edition features a granite black theme for leather upholstery and a Stealth logo on the front seat headrests.
The Tiago EV received a considerable range of model year updates for the calendar year. It gets a bumper and grille redesign along with a shark fin antenna. It also gets new and flashy colour schemes. New prices range between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
Key highlights of the 2025 Tiago EV include new LED headlights, 14-inch aero alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, updated driver’s display, a new steering wheel, an HD rearview camera, and electronic stability control (ESC). New colour options include Chill Lime, Arizona Blue, and Supernova Copper.
Tata Motors showcased a new concept, called the Avinya X, at the recently held Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This is the second concept bearing the Avinya name but it would be an all-electric crossover. Most notably, it will use a new EV-only platform that will be shared with models from Jaguar Land Rover (officially JLR).
The Avinya nameplate not only will set a foundation for the future Tata models but also preview a new direction for the brand. The concept showcased the features of a striking design reminiscent of the earlier concept. With its new lineup, Tata Motors shows off its new direction for its transition to an all-electric era, while keeping its interest and focus in the combustion-powered models for the imminent future. Speaking of which, the brand has not debuted its new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine yet, which could be introduced with the Tata Sierra ICE. For electric models, the acti.ev will likely be used for mass-market electric-only cars, while JLR-shared EMA might be utilised for premium models.
