2025 Mercedes-Benz EQG 580 Launch Tomorrow: 5 Things You Need To Know

The new year is expected to bring an ocean of new cars to the Indian market with some of them to be showcased at the forthcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The upcoming new car launches and unveils will also include lots of SUVs, especially all-wheel drive (AWD) and 4x4sfrom brands, such as Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Skoda, Hyundai, and more. A few of them will enter the Indian market for the first time, for instance, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and BMW iX3. That is not all though. Below is a list of all the upcoming 4x4 and AWD SUVs in 2025.
Expected launch at Auto Expo 2025
Expected price - Rs 15 lakh
The e Vitara will be the highlight of the Maruti Suzuki pavilion at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It will be the first-ever electric vehicle (EV) by the carmaker, featuring a new design language. The e Vitara, internationally, comes with two battery packs: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh paired with either a single motor or a dual-motor setup (the latter makes it an AWD). The electric SUV is likely to offer a range of up to 500 km. The AWD is known as All-Grip. Apart from that, it is expected to feature a panoramic sunroof, a dual-screen setup, and ventilated front seats. Whereas, safety features may include a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags (standard), and ADAS.

Expected price - Rs 15 lakh
Toyota recently unveiled the Urban Cruiser — an all-electric SUV. It is essentially a re-badged version of the Maruti e Vitara and is likely to make its India debut in May 2025. The Urban Cruiser stands out with a slightly redesigned exterior. However, it carries over a similar layout for the interior. It is likely that Toyota will offer the Urban Cruiser with two battery pack options with a claimed range of up to 500 km. Like the Maruti e Vitara, it could also be offered with a choice of FWD and AWD options.

The Sierra was one of the iconic offerings in the Indian markets. After a huge gap, Tata is now bringing it back in a completely new and modern avatar. While the Sierra EV concept has already been showcased, Tata Motors will likely reveal the production-ready version of the Sierra EV at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It could use the brand’s new Activ.EV platform that supports both the FWD and AWD configurations. Additionally, Tata is expected to offer two battery pack options with the Sierra EV.

Expected price - Rs 25 lakh
Tata has already showcased the Harrier EV concept a couple of times and the production version of the SUV is likely to be displayed at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Harrier EV is expected to be powered by a sizable battery pack paired with a dual motor setup to support the all-wheel drive system. With this, it may offer a claimed range of over 500 km.

Expected price - Rs 30 lakh
The upcoming Safari EV will also be a part of Tata’s ever-growing electric vehicle (EV) lineup and is expected to make its first public appearance at the forthcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Not to mention the electric SUV has already been spotted testing. Expected to be based on the new Activ.EV platform of the brand, the Safari EV could share its powertrain with the Harrier EV, including the dual-motor setup to support the AWD.

In 2024, Skoda revealed the new-gen Kodiaq alongside the all-new Superb. And now the SUV is set to arrive in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Kodiaq has already been spied on testing on multiple occasions. The generational update has brought numerous changes to the Kodiaq, including a fresh look inside and out as well as additional features. While the international-spec Kodiaq comes in a range of powertrains, the India-bound model will likely continue with the 190 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a four-wheel-drive system.

Mercedes-Benz will launch the electric equivalent of the legendary G-Class, the G 580 with EQ Technology, on 9 January, 2025. The G 580 (EQG) unveiled last year is powered by a 116 kWh battery pack coupled to a quad-electric motor setup. Since each wheel is independently powered by a separate motor, the electric G-Class can perform a 360-degree spin. These motors make 587 PS and 1,164 Nm.
Expected Showcase at Auto Expo 2025
Expected price - Rs 2.50 crore
Mercedes-Benz is likely to showcase a new Maybach model at the upcoming Auto Expo 2025, called the Maybach EQS Night Series. It features a dark exterior and interior. Apart from that, it carries over all the bells and whistles from the Maybach EQS 680, such as the MBUX Hyperscreen that spans across the width of the dashboard and comprises a three-screen setup, an augmented reality heads-up display, and a Burmester 4D surround sound system. With a 122 kWh battery pack, the Maybach EQS Night Series delivers a WLTP range of 611 km.

Expected price - Rs 11 lakh
The long-awaited Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift is expected to go on sale in the country in April 2025. The updated SUV will likely get updates in line with the new Thar Roxx. Most notably, there should be a revamped interior with a larger infotainment display and additional features. Powertrain options could be carried over.

Expected price - Rs 70 lakh
BMW unveiled the new generation X3 in mid-2024, bringing in a range of substantial changes across the board. It features a completely new and sleek design language, an upmarket interior, and a range of petrol and diesel powertrain options. Expect the SUV to arrive in India sometime in early 2025.
Expected launch in September 2025
Expected price - Rs 37 lakh
Volkswagen is likely to launch the new Tiguan in India later this year. The updated SUV features a host of changes in design, interior, features, and powertrain. Although the international market offers a few engine and transmission options, the India-spec model could continue with the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Expected price - Rs 40 lakh
The MG Gloster facelift will finally hit the market sometime this month. The SUV is likely to be showcased at the forthcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. As a part of the facelift, it could get a fresh look and a revamped interior. The powertrain is likely to be carried forward though.'
Expected launch by March 2025
Expected price - Rs 45 lakh
BYD India recently confirmed the all-electric Sealion 7 and announced that the electric crossover will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Internationally, the Sealion 7 comes in two battery packs with an option of AWD. The maximum WLTP range on offer is 502 km.
Expected launch in late 2025
Expected price - Rs 34 lakh
One of India’s most popular SUVs, the Fortuner, is likely to receive a facelift this year. However, a notable change in its powertrain will be the addition of the 48V mild hybrid system. Apart from that, the SUV could feature a redesigned exterior, a fresh cabin, and additional modern-day features.
Expected launch in August 2025
Expected price - Rs 34 lakh
The Hyundai Tucson received a minor facelift, keeping it fresh and competitive in the segment. While the overall design has been unchanged, major changes are made at the front and rear ends. It also comes with a handful of new features. Meanwhile, the India-spec model may arrive later in 2025 with the same powertrain as the on-sale model.

The Toyota Land Cruiser rival of the Nissan was unveiled last year, bringing in significant changes to the design, a modern interior, and a new V6 engine. The India-spec model is likely to be a CBU and may arrive in October 2025.

Expected price - Rs 80 lakh
Audi is expected to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup in India with the new Q6 e-tron. Like the Q8 e-tron, it comes in two body styles: traditional SUV and coupe SUV. Internationally, the Q6 e-tron is available in various powertrain options, including the range-topping SQ6.

Expected price - Rs 1 crore
Toyota unveiled the Land Cruiser 250 Prado internationally in early 2024. The aim of the new model is to bring back the Prado. This Land Cruiser 250 Prado is on sale alongside the new Land Cruiser 300 in some international markets and is expected to arrive in India soon. It comes powered by a 2.8-litre diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol engine.

The GX is the flagship off-roader from Lexus and is based on Toyota’s TNGA-F platform — the platform that also underpins the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX. The GX is a rugged off-road SUV and features a boxy styling and a modern interior. The SUV is powered by a 3.4-litre V6 petrol engine.
The Thar 3-door facelift, Fortuner mild hybrid, X3, and Land Cruiser 250 Prado are some of the few notable SUVs you need to look for in 2025. While the list ends here, we expect a few carmakers to set the stage for surprise unveils or launches this year.
