The media days of the Auto Expo 2023 are done and dusted. All the participants at the ongoing event have finished with their new unveils and launches. And to be honest, this edition’s expo is not half bad, considering the fewer number of manufacturers who showed up. So, if you’re planning to head to the event, keep your eyes peeled for the top 10 models that made a splash at the auto show.
The Maruti Suzuki eVX concept is an important concept as it serves as a preview of the carmaker’s first electric SUV for the Indian market. It’s sized similarly to the Grand Vitara (around 4.3 metres long) and gets a large 60kWh battery pack for a driving range of around 550km. You can take a closer look at the eVX in our unveiling story.
Finally, the larger five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV made its global debut in India. The elongated length and the extra set of doors boost the practicality quotient of the SUV. Also, the carmaker has commenced bookings, meaning its launch shouldn’t be very far off. More details of the Jimny can be found here.

Another showstopper from Maruti Suzuki comes in the form of the Fronx, a Baleno-based sub-four-metre SUV from the carmaker’s NEXA lineup. Its Grand Vitara-inspired looks dial up the premium quotient, while the cabin layout is similar to the Baleno. It also marks the return of the enthusiast-friendly 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, which you can read about here.
There’s no doubt that Tata Motors’ expansive lineup of concepts and cars has made them the stunner at this year’s expo. And the spotlight was mainly garnered by the evolved Sierra concept, whose design has been locked for production. So yes, the Sierra reboot is finally happening and you can find about its launch timeline in this article.
Last time around when Tata revealed the Curvv, it was the electric version of the upcoming SUV-coupe. This time around, the carmaker gave us a glimpse of the ICE-powered model with a more transformed design. The SUV also oozes sportiness, thanks to the aggressive alloys and the red theme. Take a closer look at the Curvv concept here.
Another model that attracted all the cameras and eyeballs at the event is the Harrier EV. Yes, the Harrier is going electric and will also get dual motors, making it an all-wheel drive vehicle, something that the current diesel version is not. It also gets different design elements, previewing how the facelifted ICE model will look like. More details about the Harrier EV here.
The MG 4 has all the elements of a BMW car. A sleek and sharp-looking exterior, minimalist interior and rear-wheel drive. What more do you need? The 4 is a globally acclaimed electric hatchback and the carmaker will gauge its response at Auto Expo 2023. If it generates enough interest, we might see its launch happen here soon. Find out more about the 4 here.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 (LC300) globally debuted back in 2021, and has finally come to India through the Auto Expo 2023. So yes, the wait has been a long one. Sadly, not much is known about its market launch here, but we are glad the marque brought it here so you can see it in the flesh. If you aren’t heading to the expo, then you can head to our detailed unveiling story here.
BYD’s next model for the Indian market will come in the form of the Seal sedan. It’s a nice, low-slung model with sporty aesthetics and an upmarket interior with plenty of features. Also on offer in international markets, the EV gets multiple powertrain choices, including a performance-focused variant. More in-depth details of the Seal can be found here.
Kia has debuted the latest iteration of the Carnival at the expo. It gets more SUV-like looks, a thoroughly upmarket cabin and V6 powertrains in international markets. Now, Kia hasn’t really confirmed this Carnival for India, saying its gauging customer response. But, we hope it does make its way here, considering we are having the previous generation model. More details about the Carnival can be found here.
Right, time for a bonus round. And the car that had awed us with its massive modifications is the Hilux Extreme Off-road concept. Basically, this Hilux is kitted out with almost all the off-road accessories one could ask to make it capable of tackling an apocalypse. In fact, it’s not the Hilux we need, but the Hilux we want. All the details of the Hilux Extreme Off-road concept are here.
These are the cars that you shouldn’t miss at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023. Which one are you looking forward to seeing at the event? Let us know in the comments.
