Hero MotoSports has announced the signing of Argentinian star rider Franco Caimi. He will be joining the trio of Joaquim Rodrigues, Sebastian Buhler, and C S Santosh, and the quartet will aim to represent the Indian outfit at Dakar 2022.
Franco has been one of the elite riders in cross country racing, winning the Rookie of the Year award at Dakar 2017. He has been a factory Yamaha rider for a few years now and has managed to finish within the top ten a couple of times. Franco’s signing should elevate the team’s efforts to a whole new level.
Hero’s preparations for Dakar 2022 will begin at the upcoming Andalucian Rally in Spain, slated between May 11-16. While Caimi’s presence has been confirmed, we guess that only Buhler and Rodrigues will be joining the Argentinian for the rally. Santosh is currently recuperating from the head injury he sustained at Dakar 2021, and adequate rest will only help expedite the Fast Indian’s recovery process.
