With esports competitions growing to be the trend especially in COVID-19 times (Formula 1 eSports being an example), Michelin has announced the Michelin Cup transcontinental e-gaming tournament. It's the second edition of the esports event after the maiden edition was held earlier this year in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
Sim racers wanting to enter this event only need a Playstation and the Gran Turismo video game as they are the official partners. The tournament will have players from the MENA, India and South African regions compete against each other in two weeks of qualifier races. Each week the top two players from all three regions qualify for the grand finals on December 18, which amounts to a total of 12 racers.
The winner gets USD 20,000 (around Rs 14.98 lakh), with second place being rewarded USD 15,000 (around Rs 11.23 lakh), and USD 5,000 ( around Rs 3.74 lakh) for third place.
Registrations for the first week of qualifiers began from November 29 and will end on December 5, while registrations for the second week will take place from December 6 to 12.
