Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading passenger vehicle maker, launched an activity, ‘Gatimaan Ki Paathshala’ in Gurgaon on August 24, 2016. This initiative was taken by the carmaker for primary school students between the age group of 7 to 10 years, in order to create awareness about road safety and to educate the children about traffic rules and safety.
Maruti has jained hands with the Gurgaon Police department and will cover over 125 schools in Gurgaon, which will benefit over 50,000 students. The inauguration was held at Manav Rachna International School, Sector 51, Gurgaon, in the presence of V. Puran Kumar, IPS, Gurgaon Police.
‘Gatimaan ki Paathshala’ is an activity that is specially designed by Maruti Suzuki to instil the importance of road safety amongst school children in a fun way. The sessions include a mix of classroom and outdoor play activities, along with educational ones, which that include a superhero character, Gatimaan. This helps children learn how to be safe on roads through an interactive audio-video session.
Mahesh Rajoria, Assistant Vice President, Maruti Driving Schools, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “‘Gatimaan ki Paathshala’ strengths our road safety initiative. Teaching children at this young age helps inculcate responsible road habits at an early stage. By educating these children, we are able to drive the message of road safety and significance of traffic rules amongst their friends and family members as well.”
To make kids learn faster, Maruti Suzuki has made a mini replica of a road track replete with props such as traffic signals, battery-operated children’s car, bicycles, etc. The students play the role of a driver, cyclist, traffic signal, pedestrian, etc. while learning about the rules and regulations during the activities. This initiative by Maruti is part of the company's unique road safety initiative: ‘Sabhya Roads, Bhavya Gurgaon’.
