Back in school, there was always this one big built kid who would never mess with anyone (or be messed up with), and would largely keep to himself. There was always caution whilst one would approach him, though not out of fear, but just respect. The character resembled a self sacrificing hero from the movies. The GLK represents that boy in more ways than one.
The new GLK boasts a chiselled muscular physic, a mature yet playful face, and will give you a rather safe feeling once inside it. It is an all rounder, a thoroughbred, no-holds-barred off-road operator, yet a brilliant road-holding vehicle. The designers of the GLK have induced ATV-specific features into it such as its off-road friendly approach and departure angles, and its amazing ground clearance enables off-road ventures as and when you feel like. The good all-round visibility combined with the seat position enhances suitability for everyday use and provide for a relaxed driving position for long journeys.
The GLK will be available with a truckload of features such as Adaptive Brake including Hill-Start Assist, Hold function, and brake drying in wet conditions. There’s also Agility Control suspension with a selective damping system, Antilock Brake System (ABS), Acceleration Skid Control (ASR), and Brake Assist (BAS) to aid the driver with additional brake power when emergency braking is detected. Steer Control supports the driver in unstable driving conditions by triggering an impulse which can be felt on the steering wheel, prompting counter-steering by the driver in the correct direction. Rounding off the list is ESP or Electronic Stability Program, including trailer stabilisation, and the Mercedes-patented 4MATIC - permanent all-wheel drive with 4ETS electronic traction system.
The interiors of the GLK are as you would expect, luxurious and packed with features such as its touch screen dashboard display with full internet connectivity, Harman Kardon speakers, an iPad at the rear with a crash resistant 180 degree swivel holder, a TV tuner card, voice controls and 3D maps for the global positioning system.
Safety features on the new GLK include airbags, knee bags, pelvis bags, side bags for the driver and the front passenger, windowbags for the driver, the front passenger and the rear passengers. Seat occupancy recognition for front passenger seat which will adjust your seat based on how you left it previously by sensing your weight and a few other features.
In addition to all this, the GLK will come with highly efficient 4-, 5- and 6-cylinder BlueEFFICIENCY engines that will boost its practicality up another notch and make it a good value for money deluxe SUV.
