The new Porsche Boxster has been improved comprehensively, with an all-new lightweight body and a completely revamped chassis. The kerb weight has been lowered, the wheelbase increased and the track widened - the three best ways to enhance overall drive dynamics.
The new bigger sized wheels also play a big part in road holding. Surprisingly, fuel efficiency has gone up 15 percent, delivering approximately 11 kmpl which is as good as a Volkswagen Polo 1.6 when driven well.
The new Boxster is powered by a flat or boxer six-cylinder, 2,700cc engine developing 265PS of power, which is really very quick and nimble to handle. The bigger, meaner Boxster S is powered by a 3,400cc boxer type six cylinder engine now developes 315 Ps of raw power.
Both these models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard, with the seven-speed dual-clutch Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option. We suggest the 'auto-box as they really provide the speed and comfort you necessarily require whilst up and down shifts in this no-nonsense power demon. The 265PS Boxster sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and the Boxster S does the same in just 5 seconds. Considering a Gallardo does the same in 4.1 seconds, this is phenomenal.
To enhance the driving dynamics further, the Sport Chrono Package option is offered on the Boxster, featuring Dynamic Transmission Mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is the option of Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear limited slip differential.
The Boxster's stance has always backed on its seriously sporty design and never has it given enthusiasts a chance to complain. This ones definitely male and the left and right side profile resembles the biggest, meanest most sought after Porsche, the Carrera GT. Perfection.
