Ferrari’s replacement for the highly acclaimed Ferrari 458 Italia has finally been unveiled. The new car, the 2015 Ferrari 488 GTB come with a new 3.9-litre, twin turbo engine that makes a staggering 670PS of peak power and 760Nm of peak torque. The new Ferrari 488 GTB takes all of Ferrari’s learnings from the 458 Challenge and XX series and employs it into its street cars.
The Ferrari 488 GTB goes from 0-100kmph in 3.0-seconds, 0-200kmph in 8.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 330kmph. The Ferrari 488 GTB laps the legendary Fiorano circuit in 1 minutes and 23 seconds. The 488 GTB also features Variable Torque Management, which unleashes the engine’s massive torque smoothly, and powerfully right across the rev range, while specific gear ratios deliver incredibly progressive acceleration at full throttle acceleration. Ferrari has also taken extra care to perfect the 488 GTB’s soundtrack to be as pleasing if not better than the 458 Italia’s soundtrack.
The Ferrari 488 GTB also has updated exterior styling. The car features updated styling including a new and larger front bumper and new distinctive and larger side intakes. The bigger intakes also improve the cooling to the new radiators and intercoolers. The rear end of the car also features a brand new exhaust system and a new rear end which also incorporates larger cooling ducts.
Expect the Ferrari 488 GTB to go toe-to-toe with cars like the McLaren 650S and the Lamborghini Huracan. With Ferrari’s new dealers in India, expect the 488 GTB to be one of the largest selling cars that Ferrari will sell in India. The Ferrari 488 GTB will be priced between Rs 3.0-4.0 crore in India and will be launched by the end of the year.
