We have caught the new 2015 Fiat Grand Punto test car’s exterior and cabin pictures while it was doing its test runs around Pune. The car we spotted seemed to have received a more thorough upgrade than what we have seen the Punto get in India so far. This means the 2015 Fiat Punto will not just get new body colours and alloy wheel design but rather a full-fledged makeover.
Going by the spy pictures the new Fiat Grand Punto will be slightly different from the next-generation model shown internationally by the Italian marque. The next generation car will get new front and rear bumper design and reprofiled taillamps. The upswept headlights seem longer than the current ones and might be inspired from the Fiat Avventura crossover the company unveiled during the 2014 Auto Expo. The interiors have also been given a complete overhaul, and will now resemble the good looking dual tone ones seen on the recently launched 2014 Fiat Linea.
Mechanically, the 2015 Fiat Punto will not be very different from the current generation car and would come with the same engine and transmission options. The on-sale Fist Punto comes powered with a 1.2-liter and a 1.4-liter petrol engines, and the popular 1.3-liter Multijet diesel motor. All versions come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The new Punto could be priced slightly higher than the current model. We are sure Fiat India will be introducing the 2015 Fiat Punto around September this year to make most of the festival season. This will soon be followed by the launch of the Fiat 500 Abarth and the Fiat Avventura. The 500 Abarth is the sportier version of the Fiat 500 hatchback, and will be a premium sports hatchback.
