The launch of the A-and B-Class in 2013 made the Mercedes-Benz brand within reach for a lot of aspirational buyers. While both these cars did fairly well in the Indian scenario, the B-Class was starting to look dated against the rest of the Mercedes-Benz line-up. This year though the Stuttgart based car maker aims at introducing 15 new models and the launch of the new B-Class is the third step towards achieving this target. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz B-Class has been launched at a starting price of Rs 27.95 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 28.95 lakh for the diesel (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Although the changes on the new B-Class aren't many, they work well in giving it s youthful persona. The front now sports a redesigned twin-slat grille that flaunts the massive three-pointed star emblem. On either side of the grille, the new B-Class now gets re profiled headlights with Daytime Running Lamps. Apart from these it also gets new front bumpers with larger air intakes, and also new rear bumper. Mercedes will gives you 16-inch alloys to choose from.
On the inside, the new B-Class sports a new steering wheel, redesigned dials behind it and a larger infotainment system. It will also get a start/stop feature that will help improve overall efficiency. Under the hood, the B-Class will continue to be offered in both petrol as well as diesel variants. The 1.6-litre petrol mill makes 120 horses and 200Nm while in the diesel form it comes with a 2.2-litre unit that pumps 136PS and 300Nm.
Mercedes-Benz has been smart in giving the B-Class a timely update to ensure that it stays true to the brand’s new design language. The B-Class has always been a practical car, but now thanks to a refreshed look, it also gets a new personality.
