Tata Nano GenX

1.) Looks:

While in profile the newly launched Nano GenX looks pretty much the same as the outgoing model, Tata has done well to make sure that it has a refreshed personality. At the front, it sports a new grille with larger air dams and the grille too is now lower. The headlights have now been blackened out and to go with there is the piano black garnish on the hood. The rear too has been remoulded to give it a more upmarket feel. The bumper has now been redesigned and the position of the exhaust has now been shifted to the left.

2.) Interior:

As opposed to the Nano there are quite a few changes on the inside. But most of these have also appeared on the Nano Twist. The light coloured dashboard gives the cabin an airy feel, and it gets enhanced thanks to the large windows.  The Nano GenX gets a steering wheel that is similar to the Zest and the Bolt. Additional there are chrome surrounds for the AC vents and a new instrumentation as well. Aside from all of this, Tata has also added fabric to the door inserts and the seats making the car feel upmarket.

3.) Tail Gate:

This is the biggest change in the Nano GenX. A lot of potential buyers have shied away from the Nano mainly due to the absence of a boot. In this Nano GenX, Tata has addressed this need with an openable tail gate and a boot. To successfully execute that, Tata had to strengthen the C-pillar area as well as the roof. The Nano GenX now gets a boot space of 94-litres for the AMT version, while the manual variants get 100-litres of boot space.

4.) Gearbox:

Tata first revealed at the 2014 Auto Expo its intentions of brining in an AMT version of the Nano, and since then the wait has been long. Now finally, Tata has installed this Nano GenX with an AMT box. To operate the clutch and shift through gears, the AMT box uses hydraulic actuators. Needless to say, thanks to the AMT the Nano GenX is a lot easier to drive around in the city.

5.) Accessories:

Tata has gone all out with this new Nano GenX. At the launch Tata also revealed a long list of accessories that you could get fitted on your Nano GenX. From decals to give it a youthful appeal, funky black alloy wheels, body kit to a portable navigation system it has everything that you could possibly think of. And with this move, Tata’s focus on the product and their intention to turn it into a brand becomes evident.
