While Audi and Mercedes-Benz have been busy fighting it out for the top spot in the luxury car market, Volvo has been quietly bringing in new models as well. At first it was the V40 hatchback, which was closely followed by the XC90. And today, the Swedish car maker, has added another variant to its line-up of cars – the S60 T6.
Priced at Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Volvo S60 T6 is offered with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that makes 306 horses and 400Nm of torque. This engine will come mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. After the Volvo V40 Cross Country, this is only the second product from the Swedish car maker to be offered with a petrol engine in India.
With regards to looks, the petrol powered S60 will look identical to its diesel counterpart and will continue to follow the ‘designed around you’ philosophy. In the 2015 iteration the bumper has now been redesigned, along with the four-slat front grille that is now larger. On either side of the grille the S60 gets pulled back projector type headlamps. At the back, the S60 will continue to sport boomerang shaped LED tail lights, the Volvo font on the boot and the twin exhaust to wrap up the design.
In the Indian market, the Volvo S60 will go against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series.
