Over the years, the 458 has made its way into the hearts of all Ferrari aficionados and has easily become one of the most favourite new-age offerings from the brand. However, like all good things come to an end, it’s time to bid adieu to the 458 and welcome its replacement – the 488GTB. With this new offering, Ferrari now makes a shift back to forced induction after almost 30 years.
Powering the 488GTB is an all-new 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 that pumps an impressive 670PS of peak power and a whopping 760Nm of max torque. If these figures don’t help you imagine what the car is capable of, picture this. The 488GTB touches the 100kmph marker in three seconds flat and can record a top speed of 330kmph.
In the looks department, the 488GTB look somewhat like an advanced version of its predecessor. The 488GTB gets sleeker headlamps to go with the large air dams and the minimalistic front bumper. The air intakes up front are split into two to feed the intercooler and to generate downforce. There is an air diffuser too. All these developments have resulted in improvements in aerodynamics. By building it on a lightweight aluminium chassis, Ferrari has even managed to reduce the weight of the car from the 458 Italia.
With a price tag of close to Rs 4 crore, the Ferrari 488GTB will go against the likes of the Porsche 911 turbo, and the Lamborghini Huracan. Ferrari is also expected to launch the 488GTB Spyder in India towards the end of the year.
