Due to high demand of Superb’s diesel variant, Czech carmaker has even stopped taking new bookings of the same

Skoda launched the latest generation its flagship sedan, the Superb in February this year. The sedan was launched with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine and a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol unit. With this new generation Superb, Skoda has taken the game a step ahead especially in terms of the package that it has to offer at that price. And that is exactly the reason why demand for the car has been constantly on the rise, especially for the diesel variant.

The Czech car maker has currently stopped accepting bookings for the diesel variants of the new Superb. Customers who have already booked the car are now being given the option of switching to a petrol variant or accepting full refund of their booking amount. The third option of course would be to wait for the delivery of the car. Customers have been asked to wait for a period of at least 2 months till the production output is increased.

The diesel variant of the Superb is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which produces 177PS of maximum power along with 350Nm of peak torque. A lot of buyers prefer the diesel trim over the petrol variant mainly because of its better fuel efficiency. Also, the 6-Speed DSG automatic gearbox paired with the diesel motor is known to be more dependable than the 7-speed DSG gearbox which is offered with the petrol engine.

The new Superb is based on Volkswagen’s new MQB platform and is the most feature laden car in its segment. The unavailability of diesel motors is sure to come as a boon to its direct competitor - the Toyota Camry Hybrid.
