Picture of the upcoming Toyota Fortuner has been leaked on the internet. The 2016 Toyota Fortuner will be launched in the Thailand market on July 28th. The next generation Toyota Fortuner has received both cosmetic and mechanical updates. The Toyota Fortuner is among the most popular SUV in the country owing to its brute design and the renowned Toyota reliability.
From the leaked image one can make out that the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will have a sleeker design language Evoque-ish headlamp, wrap around taillight and also a revised front end. The SUV will also sport redesigned multi-spoke wheels. Talking about interiors, the new Fortuner will share its cabin with the Hilux pickup. So expect steering mounted controls, a new infotainment system, Bluetooth, automatic climate control and optional leather seats. The interior change is a correct step as the existing Fortuner interior layout is similar to the Innova MPV. Powering the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will be an newly developed 2.4 litre and 2.8 litre displacement diesel motors good enough for 162PS and 180PS respectively. The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while an automatic gearbox will be optional. The new Fortuner will also be available with 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive options.
The 2016 Toyota Fortuner also gets an all-new ladder-frame chassis. According to Toyota, the new frame is stiffer and lighter which should result in good handling dynamics for the NEW SUV. The Japanese carmaker has also made efforts to make the ride quality of the new Fortuner better. Indian buyers will have to wait till 2016 before they could get their hands on the 2016 Toyota Fortuner as the SUV is expected to be launched in early 2016 and might also make an appearance at the 2016 Auto Expo. The new Fortuner will compete against rivals like Hyundai Sanya Fe, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Chevrolet Captiva and the Ford Endeavour. Expected pricing for the new 2016 Toyota Fortuner SUV is around Rs 22 to 25 lakh ex-showroom.
