Honda has silently updated the last scooter in their line up – the Activa-i – with a BS-IV engine and Always Headlamps On (AHO) feature. The scooter now gets an under-seat phone charging socket and new mirrors. Moreover, Honda is offering the updated scooter in five new dual-tone colour schemes – Orchid Purple Metallic, Lush Magenta Metallic, Neo Orange Metallic, Black and Imperial red metallic. The 2016 model came with a single tone colour scheme which also looked good on the scooter. The Activa-i is slightly smaller in proportions and designed rather femininely.
The Activa-i is powered by a 109cc engine which develops 8.1PS of power @ 7000rpm and a peak torque of 8.94Nm @ 5500rpm. It is constructed around an under-bone type of chassis and gets spring loaded hydraulic type suspensions at the front a single coil spring unit at the rear. The scooter is shod with 90/100 – 10 tubeless tyres both at the front and the rear. Braking is handled by 130mm drum brakes at the front and the rear. It is equipped with Honda’s signature Combined Braking System (CBS) which applies brakes on both the wheels with a single lever and is incorporated to reduce the braking distance.
The scooter weighs 103kg, thanks to the fibre body panels, and gets a 5.3-litre fuel tank. Seat height at 735mm is very well suited for shorter riders and the ground clearance is 165mm. The Activa-i faces competition from the Hero Pleasure and the TVS Scooty Zest. It is priced at Rs 47,913 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
