Scheduled to be unveiled at the Detroit auto show next week, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will come in “sport” and “luxury” versions, fully redesigned for 2017. The pictures come courtesy of Germany’s Auto-Press that also has new details about the next iteration of the E-Class, codenamed W213.
From what we can see in the pictures, the 2017 E-Class looks more like a big C-Class than a smaller S-Class. But then again, one can safely state that the C looks like a baby S, so this E would then just be a smaller S-Class. The front of the new E-Class features a large grille, sleek headlights with LED accents and a choice of several different bumper treatments. The long-hood short-deck treatment is more exaggerated than before and the rear of the E-Class sports LED taillights and dual exhaust outlets.
Even moving inside, the interiors of the new E-Class closely mirrors that of the S-Class flagship. The highlight of the cabin here is a new twin-screen setup with no partition between the LCD readouts.
The next generation E-Class will offer three additional suspension choices beyond the standard setup, including a 15mm lowered suspension for Avantgarde models, a 15mm lowered and stiffer sports suspension with adaptive dampers, and an optional air suspension with electronically controlled adjustable damping.
According to the German website, the 2017 E-Class will be available with a range of four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as an E350e plug-in hybrid variant. Expect pricing and more details to be revealed at the Detroit auto show.
