India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp has silently launched the 2018 version of the HF Dawn in Orissa with a price tag of Rs 37,400 (ex-showroom Orissa). The company plans on launching the motorcycle in other select cities soon.
After the earlier model was discontinued from the market due to it not complying with BSIV norms, the company has updated the HF Dawn for 2018. Changes on the new bike include an updated BSIV-compliant engine and two new colour schemes - red and black. Other additions include minimalistic graphics and blacked-out accents on the engine, exhaust heat shield, chain cover, front forks, headlamp bezel and pillion grab rail. The headlamp now has a more powerful spread and comes with AHO as standard. However, to keep the cost down, it misses out on features like an electric starter and even a fuel gauge!
The BSIV-compliant 97.2cc, air-cooled single cylinder engine, mated to a four-speed gearbox, churns out the same 8.36PS of power and 8.05Nm of torque. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and new two-step adjustable dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is done with the help of a 130mm front drum and a 110mm rear drum brake. It has a fuel tank capacity of 9.5 litres. The bike tips the scale at 105kg (kerb).
The Hero HF Dawn is targeted at customers looking for a basic commuter motorcycle with durability and fuel efficiency and don't mind missing out on flashy design or features. It goes up against the Bajaj CT100 and the TVS Sport.
