Honda has launched the Activa-i for 2018 at Rs 50,010 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Activa-i was intended to be a ‘lighter’ version of Honda’s cash cow, the Activa. Understandably, it was visually lighter than the standard Activa with sleeker body panels. At 103kg kerb, it is also physically lighter by 6kg. The scooter last received an update back in April 2017.
For this year, it features updated dual-tone colours on the bodywork, colour-coded rear view mirrors and a dual-tone analogue instrumentation as well. There’s a nifty hook on front hook to suspend a bag and the underseat storage capacity stands at 18 litres with an optional mobile charging socket. There’s a 4-in-1 seat lock opener as well. However, the fuel filler cap is still under the seat, requiring the rider to get off the scooter to fuel up. The 2018 version also gets a metal exhaust heat shield. Honda offers the Activa-i in four dual-tone colours and a Matt Axis Grey Metallic colour variant. The new scooter is Rs 440 more expensive than the earlier model.
Apart from the aesthetic changes, the powertrain and the underpinnings remain the same. The engine is the same 109.19cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit that’s good for 8.03PS at 7000rpm and 8.94Nm at 5500rpm. The scooter still rides on trailing arm type front suspension and a single shock absorber at the rear. CBS with equaliser is standard on the 130mm front and rear drum units. The scooter locks horns with Hero Pleasure (Rs 48,100), Yamaha Ray Z (Rs 50,817), and TVS Scooty Zest (50,461). All prices ex-showroom Delhi.
