The 2019 Activa commands a premium of Rs 6,800 over the older model
  • 2019 Activa 125 is powered by a BS6-compliant engine.
  • The updated motor is a bit less powerful than the previous version.
  • The new Activa 125 is also slightly bigger compared to its predecessor.
  • Honda has launched India’s first BS6 compliant two-wheeler, the 2019 Activa 125. With prices starting from Rs 67,490, the updated Activa 125 is around Rs 6,800 more expensive than the previous-gen model. It is available in three variants - standard, alloy (Rs 70,990) and deluxe (Rs 74,490, ex-showroom Delhi) and deliveries will commence by the end of this month.

The 2019 Activa 125 is 36mm longer, 3mm wider and 19mm taller compared to the older model. Apart from the addition of chrome accents on the side panels and the front apron, the 2019 Activa 125 doesn’t receive any major cosmetic changes. Agreed, there’s not much to talk about the styling, but the same can’t be said about its features and mechanical bits. For instance, it comes equipped with a new semi-digital instrument console with a side-stand indicator, an apron-mounted glove box and an external fuel filler cap.

Most of the changes, however, have taken place in the engine department. Powering the 2019 Activa 125 is a BS6-compliant 124cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. This motor churns out 8.29PS of power at 6500rpm, which makes it 0.34PS less powerful compared to its predecessor. What else is new in the... err.. new Activa 125? Head here to find out.

In terms of rivals, the Activa 125 goes head to head with the TVS NTorq 125 and Hero Maestro Edge 125. But what works in favour of the Activa 125 is that it has got the bragging rights to be called India’s first BS6 compliant scooter.

Moreover, as the deadline to convert all motorcycles and scooters to meet the upcoming emission norms nears, Honda has announced that all its BS6 two-wheelers will come with fuel injection from now on. And in this process of transition, the Japanese bike maker could discontinue some products as well.
