2019 Gixxer 150 Spotted In The Flesh

Earlier, leaked brochure images of the 2019 Suzuki Gixxer gave us a pretty clear idea of what the upcoming bike could look like. Now, new images of the bike that have surfaced online reveal some more details about the upcoming Suzuki. First off, the fact that the bike was spotted in the flesh suggests that Suzuki could launch the bike earlier than the previously anticipated launch timeline of September 2019. The images also show the bike covered in a dual-tone colour scheme like the one seen on the 2019 Gixxer SF.

While the 2019 Gixxer retains its muscular design language, it gets a beefier fuel tank and sharper tank extensions. The bike features an all-new LED headlight as well as an all-digital instrument console. Interestingly, the shape of the console looks pretty similar to the one on the 2019 Gixxer SF. The similarities extend to the split seats, tail section, double barrel exhaust as well as the rear tyre hugger.

The 2019 Gixxer will borrow the SF’s 154.9cc, fuel-injected unit that produces 14.1PS at 8000rpm and 14Nm at 6000rpm. The existing Gixxer comes with a carburettor. The inclusion of fuel-injection should help the Suzuki comply with upcoming BS6 emission norms.

In terms of underpinnings, the 2019 Gixxer uses a telescopic fork and a rear monoshock. Disc brakes at both ends along with single-channel ABS takes care of braking duties. Expect the 2019 Gixxer to command a premium of around Rs 10,000 over the current model. That should place it around the Rs 98,000 mark (ex-showroom). When launched, the new Gixxer will go up against the Yamaha FZ FI Version 3.0, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Honda CB Hornet 160R and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
