The new BS6-compliant Activa 125 covered in all angles

Even though the April 2020 deadline is half a year away, Honda has begun rolling out its BS6-compliant products with the 2019 Activa 125. The scooter was unveiled in June and has launched now at a starting price of Rs 67,490 (ex-showroom Delhi). Here’s a detailed look at India’s first BS6-compliant two-wheeler.

The 2019 Activa 125 maintains the same silhouette that Indians have associated with the Activa brand for years. However, the new model is larger than before, with nifty updates to the styling.

Look closely and you will find that the front beak section gets a small makeover. The headlight as well as DRL units continue to be LED but the indicators are still conventional bulbs. The front indicators especially are different, with the new Activa 125 no longer getting a clear lens.

The chrome bits on the side panels are new, adding to the scooter’s premium feel.

The Activa 125 continues to be a long scooter as this iteration is 36mm longer. Thankfully, it retains the comfort factor which arrives with the long seat and ample floor space.

To add convenience to comfort, Honda has equipped the new Activa 125 with a remote fuel filler cap. This is the first time we are seeing this feature on a Honda scooter.

The Activa 125 had a semi-digital instrument cluster but it now shows extra information such as range, average fuel consumption and real-time fuel efficiency.

Powering the new Activa 125 is an all-new 124cc single-cylinder fuel-injected motor that makes 8.29PS and 10.3Nm. This motor makes less power and torque but Honda claims that it will be 13 per cent more fuel efficient than the BS4-compliant 124.9cc mill.

The BS6-compliant Activa 125 does make use of the same components as the BS4 version. Hence, on the Deluxe edition you get the same 12-inch alloy rims at the front with a 190mm disc brake. There is a telescopic fork handling suspension duties. However, Honda has not specified whether the tuning of the unit has been changed.

Honda is continuing to use a 10-inch rim for the rear wheel with a 130mm drum brake unit for this Activa 125 too.

There is a noticeable change with the tail lamp design as it now bears an H-shaped layout. The redesign was also done to accommodate the new remote fuel filler cap.
