Yamaha has launched the 2019 iteration of its faired 150cc offering, the YZF-R15 Version 3.0, in Thailand. The bike gets cosmetic updates in the form of revised graphics and new colour options. The fairing on the blue and black dual-tone variant now sports a large ‘R’ logo on the side and a ‘VVA’ sticker on the upper portion of the fairing. The other two colours: black with red highlights and yellow with grey highlights feature ‘R15’ and ‘VVA’ logos on the side. Yamaha has priced the motorcycle at THB 97,500 (approximately Rs 2.16 lakh). Compared to the 2018 model, the new version commands a premium of THB 500, which is around Rs 1,100.
Apart from these changes, the motorcycle remains the same as its predecessor. The international-spec motorcycle comes with an inverted fork finished in gold whereas the model sold in India makes do with a traditional fork. The Thai-spec model also gets an aluminium pillion footrest assembly. Interestingly, the bike sold in Thailand doesn’t feature ABS even as an option whereas the bike sold here gets dual-channel ABS as standard to comply with new safety regulations.

Currently, the India-spec version comes in three colours: Thunder Grey, Racing Blue and Darknight. While the grey and blue colour options are priced at Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Darknight option is dearer than the other two by Rs 2,000. We expect Yamaha introduces the Thai-spec colours in the Indian market by next year. The grey and yellow dual-tone variant in particular looks quite smashing!
