  • The Audi RS7 is expected to launch in July 2020.
  • It will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.
  • Prices likely to start from Rs 1.5 crore.

Audi India recently surprised us with a teaser of the RS7, its next offering in the country. The Ingolstadt-based carmaker has now announced that it has commenced bookings for the swanky four-door coupe for a token amount of Rs 10 lakh. The A7 on steroids is likely to be launched in July 2020.

The RS7 looks a lot more aggressive than the car it is based on. This is thanks to all the shiny chrome bits being replaced with sportier, blacked-out elements. The front bumper features massive air intakes while the rear bumper houses dual exhaust outlets. We also like the LED headlamps and tail lamps which do a small dance while locking and unlocking the car. Large 21-inch alloy wheels and super large front brake calipers that pack in 10 pistons complete the look.

Step inside and you’ll notice that the cabin is a familiar place thanks to Audi’s twin-screen central console. However, these screens, along with the virtual cockpit, now use an RS-specific user interface. Other upgrades include RS sports seats with more than adequate side bolsters and Alcantara upholstery.

Powering the RS7 is a mighty 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that comes paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system for torque boost. It develops a stonking 600PS and 800Nm of twist, giving the RS7 the ability to complete 0-100kmph in 3.6 seconds! Press on further and it’ll hit an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. Naturally, this being an Audi, power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. So you can’t get naughty like in a BMW M8 or Mercedes-GT 63 4 Door that come with switchable AWD systems.

However, what might interest you is the drive experience thanks to Audi RS-specific adaptive suspension through which you can soften, stiffen, and even raise or lower the car. That means you can stiffen it up while attacking corners on a race track and put it in comfort and waft along on your way back home.

It’s been quite a while since we had an RS model in India and Audi seems to have left no stone unturned with the RS7. Deliveries are slated to begin starting August 2020 and we expect prices to start from Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom). The RS7 locks horns with the BMW M8 and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4 Door
