It looks like the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio’s tryst with the automotive paparazzi is never-ending as a test mule of the upcoming SUV has been spotted yet again ahead of its debut next year. The latest spy shots reveal the interiors of the 2020 Scorpio for the first time. Is it any different than the existing model? Let’s find out, shall we?
The 2020 Scorpio’s dashboard looks familiar to the current model with new design elements like vertical AC vents and chunky knobs for the climate control and infotainment system. The touchscreen infotainment system has grown in size too and is expected to be an 8-inch unit. We also noticed the new three-spoke steering wheel and indicator stalks as well.
Although the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio comes with a familiar design, it has grown in size. The front end comes with Mahindra’s trademark seven-slat grille that’s a tad bigger and wider than before. At the side, the flared wheel arches and bigger tyres give the SUV a butch stance. Moving on to the rear, we could notice the new tail lamps that are smaller and simple in design.

The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio is expected to come with a new BS6 compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine that will replace the existing 2.5-litre m2DICR and 2.2-litre mHAWK engine. Currently, the m2DICR unit develops 76PS and 200Nm while the mHAWK engine comes in two states of tune: 122PS/280Nm and 142PS/320Nm. We expect the new engine to be more powerful than the existing set of powertrains. It’s also expected to be offered with all-wheel and an automatic gearbox as well.
Mahindra is working on a new BS6 compliant 2.0-litre engine and we expect it to be offered in the new Scorpio. Technical specifications for this powertrain are yet to be revealed.
The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio is expected to debut at Auto Expo 2020 with a launch shortly thereafter. Naturally, expect it to cost more than the current model which starts at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched, the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio will lock horns with the Renault Duster.
