Alongside the BS6 Aprilias and the new Aprilia SXR125 and SXR160, Piaggio also showcased its entire range of BS6-compliant Vespa scooters at Auto Expo 2020. For 2020, the scooters get modern features and a new limited edition variant. Vespa will launch the scooters in the second quarter of 2020.
The Vespa scooters now sport LED headlamps. Piaggio had kitted both the 125cc and the 150cc motor with fuel injection to meet the new BS6 emission norms. Engine outputs remain the same, with the 150cc scooter delivering 10.4PS and 10.6Nm. The smaller 125cc scooters put out 9.65PS and 9.9Nm of torque.
The scooters continue to use the same features and underpinnings as before. It gets a monocoque steel bodywork with the suspension setup comprising of a trailing link front and a monoshock rear. Braking is via a front disc and rear drum, with the larger models getting single-channel ABS.
We expect the new updates to add a Rs 2,000 premium over the existing BS4 Vespa models, which already command an exorbitant price tag.
