Audi India is gearing up for its next launch: the S5 Sportback four-door coupe. It has now been teased on Audi’s social media platforms, in its facelifted form, after debuting globally at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. While it’s offered with six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines in international markets, we could receive only the former thanks to Audi’s shift to a petrol-only range in the country.
Before we delve into technical details, let’s take a closer look at the design changes. It looks a lot sharper thanks to a wider grille and sportier bumpers. It also gets funkier LED lamps, both at the front and rear, that do a dance when you lock/unlock the car. Last but not least, it comes with a sportier set of alloy wheels.
Changes are even more minute on the inside with the only update limited to the new 10.1-inch MMI infotainment system, which can only be controlled via touch inputs. The swivel wheel has been done away with and in its place, we get a nifty cup holder. Audi’s 12.3-inch virtual cockpit adds to the overall premium experience.

The S5 Sportback will most likely be powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine putting out 349PS and 500Nm. It’ll come paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with power being transferred to all four corners. That means a 0-100kmph sprint time of just 4.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 250kmph. The Euro-spec S5 is also offered with a 3.0-litre diesel, but it won’t be available here since it doesn’t fit into Audi’s petrol/electric route in India.
The S5 Sportback may be priced around Rs 75 lakh, putting it in the league of the Mercedes-AMG C43 and the BMW M340i.
