BMW Motorrad India has teased the 2021 R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure on social media, hinting at their imminent launch, likely next month. Both bikes are already available in India at Rs 20.45 lakh (R 1250 GS) and Rs 22.35 lakh (R 1250 GS Adventure).
What isn’t available here are their ‘40 Years GS Edition’ liveries. This special edition commemorates the successful 40-year existence of BMW’s GS lineup, with a special yellow-black paint scheme and graphics. The bikes also come replete with a yellow tinted visor, yellow seat, engine guard, and golden spoke wheels. Expect the special editions to command a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over their base prices.
The 2021 iterations could also feature adaptive headlights, capable of lighting up corners, and an updated Hill Start Assist Pro system, both offered as optional extras.
No mechanical changes are expected on both motorcycles. The R 1250s employ a 1,254cc boxer engine that puts out 138PS and 143Nm. The engine features BMW’s ShiftCam technology for smoother yet punchy power delivery throughout the revs.
Standard features on the bikes include all-LED illumination, a TFT instrument cluster, riding modes, traction control, and ABS.
The R 1250 GS will rival the soon-to-arrive Ducati Multistrada V4.
