The first of Ducati’s 12 new offerings, the 2021 Scrambler range, has been launched in India. You can between the Icon and the Icon Dark, each of which gets a number of updates for 2021. The entry-level BS6 Scrambler Icon Dark, available in a Matt Black paint scheme, is priced at Rs 7.99 lakh. As for the standard Scrambler Icon, it will set you back by Rs 8.49 lakh -- Rs 60,000 more than before. That’s a substantial premium considering how little has changed.
Updates for Ducati’s entry level Scrambler Icon include a new flatter seat redesigned for improved rider and pillion comfort, improved suspension set-up, and new aluminium 10-spoke wheels derived from the Scrambler 1100. Other minor visual improvements include black cylinder heads and brushed aluminium fins.
The Scrambler range features an LCD dash with Ducati Multimedia System which allows you to receive calls and SMS alerts on the fly. The all-LED lighting system lends a premium touch to the entry-level Ducati.
The BS6 Scrambler Icon and Icon Dark are powered by the same 803cc L-twin air-cooled engine. Having to run a cleaner engine has taken on a minor toll on performance. It now peaks at 66.2Nm -- 0.8Nm lower than the EU4/BS4 model. Thankfully, the power output is unchanged, with 73 ponies waiting to be unleashed. No changes have been made to the six-speed transmission which comes with a hydraulically actuated slip-and-assist clutch. If you’re looking for a bike that’s a lot sharper with more displacement, you could check out the India-bound KTM 890 Duke.
If the smaller 800’s don’t cut it for you, you could also opt for the 2021 Scrambler 1100 Dark Pro priced at Rs 10.99 lakhs. All prices ex-showroom, India. The only change on the BS6 Scrambler 1100 Dark PRO is the introduction of a Dark Stealth livery. Here’s everything you need to know about the bike.
Bookings for the new Scramblers are now open across all Ducati dealerships in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kochi, Kolkata and Chennai. Deliveries, on the other hand, will commence from 28th January, 2021.
