Hyundai could launch the Alcazar by the third week of June this year. Select dealerships have already started accepting unofficial pre-launch bookings. We had taken the pre-production SUV for a spin, which you can read about in our first-look report.
The Alcazar can be best described as an extended Creta, with a 150mm longer wheelbase at 2,760mm. The SUV is available either as a 6-seater (with captain seats) or a 7-seater (with bench seats for middle-row occupants). With all three rows up, the Alcazar’s boot space is a decent 151 litres.
The Alcazar is expected to retain most of the Creta’s features, including the 10.25-inch infotainment system, connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. Also, the six-seater model’s unique floor-mounted central console in the middle row packs a wireless phone charger and cup holders.
Passengers safety should be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

The Alcazar will be provided with 159PS 2.0-litre petrol and 115PS 1.5-litre diesel engines, paired with a standard 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic.
The Alcazar will likely be priced anywhere between Rs 70,000 and Rs 1.20 lakh more than the Creta. The SUV will rival the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 and the 7-seater Kia Seltos.
