  • Honda SUV RS could be on the cards for an India launch.
  • It has a sportier approach to its design unlike its upright rivals.
  • Should boast latest features like connected car tech, touchscreen infotainment system, and digital driver’s display.
  • Powertrain and technical specifications yet to be divulged.

Honda has a surprise in store at the 2021 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Meet the new SUV RS concept, a probable Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza rival that could be the successor to the WR-V cross hatchback. And from the looks of it, the SUV’s design starts off with a great positive impression.

It’s quite evident that Honda has taken a sportier approach with this SUV’s design, especially considering that it’s an RS. The front-end gets a sleek mesh grille that looks a lot better than the chrome-laden grille on recent Hondas. Then there’s the sleek LED lighting at the front and rear that adds a lot of character.

Our favourite bit has clearly got to be its profile. Unlike its upright rivals, the SUV RS concept gets a sloping roofline (similar to the T-ROC) which makes it look unique. The large alloy wheels and gloss black cladding add to the beefy look. Clearly, Honda has gone all out with the design and it works!

Honda is yet to divulge the SUV’s interior and features. But we reckon the SUV should get all the latest gizmos like connected car tech, a sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and cruise control. The Indonesian model could also get Honda’s Sensing suite of ADAS safety features.

It’s still too early to talk about powertrains at this stage. We promise to keep you updated as we get more information on the same.

It still remains to be seen if the Honda SUV RS would make it to India or not. But if it does, the SUV RS would rival the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Renault Kiger.
