Kia Motors has started testing the 2021 Carnival internationally. Unlike earlier spy shots, the latest pictures reveal the interiors of the upcoming MPV for the first time. Here’s a closer look:
The 2021 Kia Carnival comes with a redesigned dashboard with plenty of design cues from Mercedes cars. It comes with a large floating infotainment system which merges on to the digital instrument panel just like the E-Class. Below the infotainment sits a pair of sleek AC vents and below it are knobs and toggles for the audio system and climate control respectively. Other highlights include a new 3-spoke steering wheel which now comes with paddle shifters.
The test mule seen here seems to be the 9-seater as we could notice a pair of captain seats just behind the middle row. Just like the existing Carnival, Kia could offer the next-gen model with 6-, 7-, 8- or even 9-seater options.

In terms of features, we expect the 2021 Kia Carnival to feature rear entertainment screens, dual sunroof including a rear electric sunroof, a powered tailgate, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO connected car technology, tri-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad and a premium sound system. Expected safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a rear view camera and electronic stability control.
Powertrain options for the 2021 Kia Carnival are yet to be known. It could feature similar engine options as the current model. For reference, the India-spec Carnival comes with a 2.2-litre CRDI unit developing 200PS of power and 440Nm of torque. It can be had with an 8-speed automatic transmission only.
The next-gen Kia Carnival could be launched by early 2021. Considering that the current-gen Carnival has been successful in the country, the next-gen model could come sooner than later. The Kia Carnival’s only rival in the country is the Toyota Innova Crysta.
