The Django 125 was spotted testing in India last year, so will it be launched here?

French two-wheeler brand Peugeot has taken the wraps off its updated Django scooter lineup, which includes the 50cc and 125cc versions. For 2021, the retro-scooter has only undergone some cosmetic changes. And stays mechanically identical to its previous iterations.

Speaking of the changes, the 2021 Django now sports a vertically stacked grille on the apron, inspired by the 1932 Peugeot 402. Moreover, the brand has also added two new colours for the standard model: Racing Green and Polar White.

The Peugeot Django will also be available in two additional variants — Peugeot Django Sport and Django Dark — both with a single colour finish and anti-slip seat covers. The Dark variant will be offered in a Mad Black colour, while the Sport variant will be offered in Satin Rouge Cherry and Mad Gray paints. And as a homage to the brand’s racing past, the Sport variant will also boast two White strips running across the front fender and apron.

Peugeot sells the Django 50 with a two-stroke as well as four-stroke engine. The former makes 4.4PS and the latter makes 3.6PS. Its bigger sibling, the Django 125 is powered by a 125cc four stroke motor and makes an unchanged 10.34PS.

As mentioned, no changes have been made to the underpinnings of either scooters. Both sport a 40mm telescopic fork and a 5-step adjustable rear shock. Braking hardware comprises a 200mm front and a 190mm rear disc with single-channel ABS.

The Peugeot Django 50’s price starts at EUR 2,589 (approximately Rs 2.30 lakh) and goes up to EUR 2,689 (approximately Rs 2.39 lakh) for the new variants. On the other hand, the Django 125 standard model retails at EUR 3,189 (approximately Rs 2.84 lakh), whereas the Sport and Dark variants are priced at EUR 3,289 or around Rs 2.93 lakh.

Even with extreme localisation, Mahindra two-wheelers (Peugeot’s parent company) is quite unlikely to bring the Django scooters in India, as it would still be a very premium offering. But if you are looking for a stylish 125cc scooter, you can check out the Vespa range.
