For months, we have seen countless spy shots of the 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350. Now that the popular roadster has been finally launched, we give you an up close look, and show what is the new Classic 350 all about:
Design:
The 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the second motorcycle based on the company’s new J platform, after the Meteor 350. This is the first comprehensive update for the bike in its decade long existence, and in spite of having virtually every component updated, it is unmistakably the Classic we know and loved.
Headlight:
This iconic fascia has been associated with the Royal Enfield family since 1977. The new Classic 350 too gets the same round headlight, flanked by two pilot lamps. In the era of sophisticated LED headlights and DRLs, the Classic continues with the good old halogen unit.
Console:
The monopod console design continues, but now the Classic 350 flaunts a new digital inlay that shows the tripmeter, odometer and even a fuel gauge. Yes, the Classic 350 finally gets a fuel gauge! Additionally, there’s a Tripper navigation pod, available as an option for select variants.
:
The old UCE 346cc motor has been replaced by the counterbalanced 349cc unit from the Meteor 350. It now makes 20.2PS at 6100rpm and 27Nm at 4000rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Fuelling and ignition has been revised.
Suspension:
Royal Enfield has upgraded the Classic 350’s suspension from the 35mm forks to beefy 41mm units offering 130mm travel. The dual rear shocks too have been changed and now offer 90mm travel. Though the travel is the same as the Meteor, the damping and spring rate are different to suit the Classic’s character.
Brakes:
The 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 gets a 300mm disc at the front paired with a two-piston floating caliper. At the rear, RE has deployed a 270mm disc with a single piston caliper. For reference, the BS6 Classic 350 had a 280mm/240mm setup.
Tyres:
Royal Enfield has upgraded the tyres from the 90/90- 19 and 110/90 - 18 setup to fatter 110/90 and 120/80 section tyres, while continuing with the 19/18-inch setup.
Switchgear:
Like most of its components, the switchgear too is shared with the Meteor 350. The rotary dials add to the retro feel of the bike.
Seat:
The 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 gets all new rider and pillion seats, which are roomier than the outgoing model. If you wish to get the underseat springs for the rider seat, you’ll have to shell out Rs 1150 more.
Footpegs:
For the first time, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 features foldable footpegs. With the extensive accessories catalog, you can even opt for the bigger, Deluxe footpegs.
The 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been priced at Rs 1.84 lakh for the single-channel ABS unit and goes all the way to Rs 2.15 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi) for the Chrome variants.
