Another heart throb retro naked by Yamaha we wish to see on our streets

Yamaha has taken wraps off its baby retro naked, the 2021 XSR125. Right off the bat, your eye meets the famed XSR styling and instantly reminds you of the XSR155, popular for its old-school swagger.

Most of the motorcycle follows a blacked-out theme, from the swanky 17-inch alloys to the bash plate to the engine components. The blacked-out exhaust with a mesh cover, in particular, looks quite premium.

Then you have elements like the chunky teardrop-shaped fuel tank, ribbed flat seat, and the minimalist round tail lamp, all adding to its attention to detail and retro charm.

It is available in three colours -- Redline, Tech Black, and Impact Yellow, the last being our pick of the three.

Perfectly complementing the round headlamp is the circular, fully digital instrument cluster. It is a well-laid out negative LCD, with a round chrome bezel over it.

The feature list is rounded up by all-LED illumination, and a chunky USD fork, making the baby XSR a rather modern motorcycle.

Powering the XSR is a VVA-equipped 124cc, single-cylinder motor, the same unit seen in the R125 and the MT-125. It puts out 14.95PS and 11.5Nm, and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

This motor is housed in a blacked-out Deltabox frame, sprung on a 37mm USD fork and a monoshock.

The package also includes block pattern tyres, single discs at both ends, and dual-channel ABS as standard.

The baby XSR is pretty accessible too, as it has a seat height of 815mm and tips the scales at an impressive 140kg (wet).

After all this, only one question that comes to mind is, “When will we see this in India?” Sadly, we might not, ever. You see, the XSR lineup has existed for a long time in international markets but Yamaha has never brought it to India--and it looks like it never will. That said, Yamaha India is set to introduce the FZ-X here and it was recently spotted in flesh. Check it out here.
