The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio has been spied yet again, this time revealing some important features, of which one is inspired by the Thar. Can you guess what that could be?
They are the new ceiling-mounted speakers (possibly branded) placed above the driver and co-driver’s sunshades and similar in functionality to the Thar’s roof-mounted units. There’s another speaker inside the dashboard as well. Thanks to this setup, we can expect good-quality audio.
These aside, the SUV will get a single-pane sunroof for the first time. Other likely new features include dual-zone climate control, a larger infotainment system (possibly with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), keyless entry with push-button start, and a chunkier coloured multi-info display.
Inside, the dashboard design is new and more straightforward than before, finished in a dual-tone black-and-chocolate brown with plenty of faux aluminium and silver inserts. All controls seem to be in the right places.
Under the hood, the new-gen Scorpio will possibly get a more powerful version of the Thar’s 130PS 2.2-litre diesel and 150PS 2.0-litre petrol engines. Both units should be paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options and rear-wheel and four-wheel drivetrains.

The updated SUV will likely be launched early next year at an expected starting price of Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a more rugged alternative to other similarly priced SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector.
