To celebrate 60 years of Grand Prix racing, Yamaha has introduced special white and red liveries for the YZF-R1 and the YZF-R7. The Japanese giant has over 500 victories during this period, with Phil Read clinching the world title astride the iconic RD56 wrapped in the same colours.
Almost the entire R family, including the smaller YZF-R3 and YZF-R125, have the same red and white shades, linked to Yamaha’s illustrious Grand Prix racing heritage. Both the vintage R1 and R7 feature matte gold rims, a yellow "number plate", and a badge on the tank mentioning the anniversary.
Updates On The YZF-R1 and R1M
Additionally, for 2022, the R1 and R1M also get new colours. The standard R1, for instance, receives a new Icon Performance shade featuring a silver fuel tank and carbon fibre bodywork. The top-spec R1M gets a new dual-tone Icon Blue colour with a dark matte blue option. Apart from that, the R1M’s electronically adjustable Ohlin suspension has been updated to offer improved performance. It continues to use the same 998cc inline-four, putting out 200PS and 113Nm.
The R7, on the other hand, sees no change since it's practically a new bike. It’s powered by a 689cc parallel-twin engine dishing out 73PS and 67Nm. You can read all about it here.
These unique liveries will cost you about Rs 35,000 more than the standard-colour variants. This basically brings the starting price of the YZF-R1 to $18,099 (Rs 13.3 lakh) and the YZF-R7 to $9,299 (Rs 6.82 lakh) ex-showroom.
