Tata Motors finally launched the much-awaited Tiago last month with a special introductory price of Rs 3.20 lakh for the petrol and Rs 3.94 lakh for the base diesel model. Despite such aggressive pricing, the company sold only 3,022 units of the Tiago in the first month of its launch. The Tiago though had received over one lakh inquiries from across the country.
The sales figures of the Tiago are expected to go north during its initial months in the market, mainly due to the introductory price and the excitement about the product. The company would definitely have expected higher sales figures for the new product since its launch.
The Tata Tiago is available in five different variants and comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. Although the current prices of the Tiago are introductory, the future prices will decide how well the product has been accepted by the consumers. The Tata Tiago currently competes against the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio in the hatchback segment.
