Except for full pricing details, we know what the Skoda Kylaq offers in terms of design, powertrain options, and especially its features. It is set to compete with one of the segment’s popular SUVs, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which leans more towards practicality than outright features and premiumness.
To help simplify your decision between the two, here are eight features that the Kylaq offers over the Brezza.
Skoda has equipped the Kylaq with 6-way electrically adjustable seats for front-row passengers, while the Maruti Brezza’s front seats are manually adjustable. Although powered seats don’t directly enhance comfort, they do offer added convenience and finer control for adjusting recline and legroom, which can improve comfort on long drives.
Along with powered seats, the front-row seats in the Skoda Kylaq also provide seat ventilation, which the Brezza lacks. This feature is especially beneficial during summers, when temperatures in our cities often exceed 40 degrees. For better cabin cooling, both the Kylaq and the Brezza are offered with automatic climate control and rear AC vents.
The Skoda Kylaq also offers a larger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system compared to the Brezza's 9-inch unit. However, in terms of functionality, both systems provide wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Another area where the Kylaq outshines the Brezza is the digital driver's display. While the Brezza comes with an analogue instrument cluster with a small multi-info display, the Kylaq features an 8-inch fully digital display.
The Skoda Kylaq also includes an adjustable headrest for the middle passenger in the second row. This small addition will help improve comfort on long distance journeys. The Brezza on the other hand doesn’t even get a fixed headrest for the middle passenger.
Moving on to safety, the Skoda Kylaq is offered with six airbags as standard across all variants. Whereas, the Maruti Brezza gets six airbags only in its top-spec ZXi+ variant, with lower-spec variants getting dual front airbags only. Other safety features common between both models include ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and rear parking sensors.
Skoda Kylaq's safety is enhanced by a tyre pressure monitoring system, likely available in the higher-spec variants. It’s an active safety feature, which can detect pressure loss in any tyre and alert the driver to take action. The Brezza doesn’t get any such feature.
Lastly, the Skoda Kylaq features cornering headlights, which helps in improved visibility around corners, especially during night driving. The Brezza, on the other hand, gets LED projector headlights along with front LED fog lamps. Additionally, it also gets automatic headlight function which is present in the Kylaq as well.
Full prices for the Kylaq will be announced on December 2, 2024. Alongside competing with the Brezza, the Kylaq will also take on the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and the Hyundai Venue.
